Well we are in Salzburg and the trip getting here was fairly smooth, flew from Dallas to Chicago to Dusseldorf to Salzburg. Leaving Dallas, no problem, leaving Chicago – problem, well not a big problem. The bad news is out of Chicago we were delayed on board for two hours because there was a taxi light out and oh yeah they could not get the fuel to go into the wing, seems like a good reason to delay the departure. The good news is we had a 5 hour layover in Dusseldorf so the delay was no problem at all.
The flight was uneventful, just the way I like them. We were on a 767 with no seat power so we were stretched to the edge of our battery on phones and computers. Also for some reason Julie and I ether one could sleep on the flight so the first day in Austria may be a bit zombie-like.
We landed in Salzburg at 1.30 on Friday and Morgan was at the airport to greet us, it was wonderful seeing her after 2 month living an ocean apart. From the airport she navigated us through the bus system and then on foot to our hotel. It is great seeing your children become adults, going from getting lost in Bentonville without a GPS to traveling around Europe by themselves without guides or incident, a true blessing.
After dropping our bags at the hotel Morgan took us to her school where we met Phoebe and Konrad, the directors of the school Morgan is attending, great people. After leaving the school we went to Morgan’s house and saw Roxane and met their host mom. The next part of Morgan’s walking tour was a track meet, we to multiple cathedrals, the Royal residence, shopping, and we ate twice…..
The evening ended by visiting the Augustiner, founded 1621, and had more food, don’t worry according to my “FitBit” we also walked over 20,000 steps.
Well More later today as we make our way to Budapest.
