After a decent night’s sleep on the train,
we arrived in Prague at 6:30am and took a taxi to our hotel. We were expecting to just leave our luggage and head out for breakfast, but our room was available and they let us go ahead and move in…this was a true blessing because we wanted to freshen up a bit.
We walked to a café around the corner from the hotel and had a delicious breakfast.
From there we began our self-guided walking tour of the city. After admiring some incredible architectural achievements, we decided to take a Segway tour! It was between that and the “hop-on hop-off” bus tour which we decided would be way too ordinary (that bus tour just keeps tempting us – maybe at one of our next stops).
Great decision!!! We had a tour guide all to ourselves and I must say it was really fun! I’ve seen people on Segways and thought they looked impossible but I couldn’t have been more wrong. We got to see so much! And it was nice having our own personal tour guide who showed us some interesting things that were kind of off the beaten path.
After the Segway tour we ate lunch. Morgan and Robert shared a traditional Czech meal of pork knuckles and French fries and I got roasted chicken and potatoes….YUM! Have we mentioned yet how delicious the food is here? We are eating very well…which makes the walking tours even that much more necessary!
We did a little shopping then headed back to the room to relax and recharge ourselves. Then it was time to eat…again! We walked to a restaurant a few blocks away where we sat out on the patio with a view of the castle and surrounding buildings all lit up and shining on the river. Wow…another fantastic day!
The weather so far has been beyond perfect! This time of year the temperatures are usually much colder so we are so thankful! Well, I’m exhausted. Good night all!
