Well we discussed today’s plans and decided rather than getting off the train at noon and staying in Frankfurt, Germany for the night we would catch another train, or two, and get to Salzburg tonight so we could have a full day there tomorrow before heading home on Monday.
So that’s what we did! We arrived in Salzburg at 7:40pm ran into the train station for Wifi to make a hotel reservation for the night….and what an amazing hotel we “just happened” to pick. I know we have said this a few times but we have been amazed at the hotel deals we have gotten. This one tops them all…in my humble opinion. We made the reservation for a double bed with a roll away for Morgan and when we got there the proprietor upgraded us to a two-bedroom suite at the same price with breakfast included. This hotel is awesome! It dates back some 700 years and is just about the quaintest place I have ever seen.
We checked in then strolled through town to eat dinner. Once again we ate way too much! Oh well we’ll start our diets next week when vacation is over.
After a great night’s sleep and a delicious breakfast we began our journey around Salzburg. We took a local bus that we thought was going to take us directly to the hotel that we already had booked for tonight to check in however that bus ended up taking us all the way around Salzburg – oh well, it was a great way to see the lesser traveled parts of town. So once we finally got to the hotel we dropped our bags off then went on a Hop-On Hop-Off Sound of Music bus tour.
Then it was back on the local bus for a ride out to the arena to watch the Salzburg Red Bull soccer game. That was really exciting and just a great way to spend some time doing what the local Austrians do on a Sunday afternoon.
Well, what a fabulous day and a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime vacation. We laughed at ourselves after saying that because we tend to have lots of once-in-a-lifetime trips. We are so grateful that God has blessed us much more than we could ever ask or imagine so that we can experience such awesome opportunities. To God be the glory. As we fall asleep tonight we are watching the continual stream of the Sound of Music movie.
Sure do hate to say good bye to our sweet Morgan Kay but we have had such an incredible 10 days that it should hold us for the next 6 weeks till she gets back home.

I have been at that exact spot by the lake in front of the Sound of Music estate. I have a picture somewhere. I will have to find it. I was only 15 so that was “mpftph” years ago. Glad you guys are having fun.
