Sunday, April 12th, our last day in Washington DC did not disappoint. Robert, Alex and I met up at 8:00am to get to the starting line of the Cherry Blossom 10 mile run to see if we could spot Courtney among the 15,000 or so runners and as God would have it we did! We saw her about half way through and then again at the finish line. She did amazing! She didn’t even look tired!
Afterwards we went to another local restaurant for some more great food…Belgian waffles, eggs, bacon, and fried potatoes! After all Courtney needed to replenish her calorie intake and it wouldn’t have been right for us not to join her. On the walk back to their apartment we stopped in a couple of open houses and were not impressed with either one.
They volunteered to accompany us to any museum or monument we wanted to see but since Robert and I have both been here before several times we opted to just relax at their apartment and watch The Masters and the Washington Nationals play the Philadelphia Phillies. Later we walked to the grocery store to get stuff to cook for dinner. We went to their roof top where the residents have access to grills and picnic tables and had ourselves a lovely dinner.
Well it was time to say goodbye (she types with a lump in her throat) which is always so hard to do. We love those two dearly and can’t even express how proud we are of them.
One more thing…Morgan found out tonight that she got accepted to Baylor Healthcare Dietetic Internship Program in Dallas starting in August after she graduates in May. Huge answer to prayer!
The rest of our vacation begins tomorrow – heading east to Maryland and then south toward the Outer Banks.
