Well today we started with snow on the ground and the air a bit nippy with temperatures in the high 30s/low 40s east of Zion National Park and ended the day in Las Vegas Nevada with the temperatures in the 80s, now that is variety.
Our stay at the Zion Mountain Ranch (www.zmr.com) was outstanding. The cabin was very nice, the meals at the Buffalo Grill (actual name of the restaurant is Cordwood) were delicious and the surroundings were fabulous. I highly recommend that if you are going to Zion and need a place to stay you consider ZMR. It is well located to go to Zion, Bryce, and Capital Reef on a day trip, easily a home base for many great sites. We had planned to use it as a home base for Monday and take a day trip to Bryce Canyon but the 12 hours of snow put a halt to that, oh well how many times do you get to spend a day in a cabin watching snowfall while on a motorcycle tour?
Tuesday the roads were clear into Zion so we were on our way. Zion is one of my favorite parks, you travel through the canyon looking up at incredible views. The rock formations are like few I have ever seen and the massive walls surrounding fill me with awe at God’s creation.
Once through Zion we headed down to I15 for the trip to Las Vegas. It is always fun when you go to Vegas with someone who has never been before, this trip two of the team were experiencing it for the first time. Once we arrived into town we headed down the Strip to Las Vegas Harley Davidson for some overdue shopping and then did a bit of bike site seeing. After checking into the Mirage we headed to Cesar’s Palace for dinner, watched the water show at the Bellagio, walked through Paris, and of course the Freemont Experience.
Another great day and boy what diversity.
